Spices Good for Skin Care

Mustard
 
The oil of mustard seed is rich in zinc and selenium. These are important antioxidants that are useful in combating the effect of free radicals in your body and your skin. Mustard also has a high concentration of Omega-3 essential fatty acids and beta-carotene, so it helps reduce skin aging and controls inflammation.
 
Turmeric
 
This spice contains the powerful antioxidant curcumin, which helps reduce wrinkles by scavenging free radicals.  In addition, Turmeric reduces inflammation, so it will soothe your skin. There is some scientific research suggesting that it may slow the growth of certain types of skin cancer.
 
Thyme
 
Wild thyme is included in topical preparations for the skin.  It has potent antioxidant properties, helps improve skin tone and is a suitable astringent.  Thyme also has potent antiviral and antifungal properties.  All of these benefits will greatly contribute to the health of your skin.
 
Cinnamon
 
Cinnamon spice has been shown scientifically to be effective against bacteria. Cinnamon also helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the dermal layer by stimulating blood flow. This helps to control blemishes.
 
Basil
 
Basil has antibacterial properties and thus its oil is used for managing acne and other skin conditions.

Ginger
 
Ginger is a traditional spice or herb that has been used in China and Japan for many years for treating skin problems, fevers and digestive disorders. In Western cultures, and extract of the ginger root has been use for its warming, soothing and relaxing properties.
 
Clove Oil
 
Clove oil spice is typically recommended for managing skin care problems, particularly acne.
 
Oregano
 
Research indicates that oils extracted from oregano are effective at fighting harmful pathogens; in particular, this spice is believed to have potent antimicrobial properties.
 

Each of these spices has been shown to reduce irritation, have antibacterial properties or contribute significants antioxidants to your skin and body. These antioxidants help fight disease and may prevent certain types of cancer. For example, ginger is believes to fight colon cancer.
