Each TanTowel plus towelette is concentrated with a self-tanning formula that gives you a fast and even application with no mess or streaking.  This classic TanTowel will give you a uniform, natural looking glow within two to four hours.  To maintain your tan, simply reapply 2 - 3 times per week or as needed.  For darker tones, apply more frequently. Directions: The best way to apply Tan Towels is to unfold towelette and apply to dry, clean skin in a circular motion over your body.  Wash hands immediately.  We recommend exfoliating your body first so your tan will last longer.  After application, and to moisturize and enhance your tan, apply any of our Body Butters, which contain Shea and Cocoa Butters and other moisturizers.

TanTowel PLUS can be used on your entire face and body, but keep out of eyes. Open the foil and remove the towelette. Using a circular motion, wipe towelette over the area you want tanned, just as if you are washing yourself. Continue the application process until the towelette is dry. Covering your entire body will typically require 2-3 towelettes. Remember to wash your hands!

Is Safe Tanning Possible?
 
Not with exposure to either the sun or tanning beds.
 
The painful sunburn you got at the tanning salon doesn't seem to hurt that badly now. Did you know that in 20-30 years that exposure to ultraviolet rays in the tanning bed could lead to skin blemishes, cataracts, and an impaired immune system? It could also result in premature aging (photoaging), causing your skin to become wrinkled, thicker, and leather-like. Many people think that these skin changes are the result of becoming older, and they do not realize that with proper care, your skin can look healthy and relatively youthful as you get older. The most dangerous aspect of ultraviolet tanning is an increased risk for several kinds of skin cancer. The most serious type of skin cancer, Melanoma, can metastasize and often be fatal.  Other types of skin cancers are usually not fatal but can cause skin lesions and require surgery. There is no such thing as a safe suntan using ultraviolet radiation.
 
What Groups are At Risk from Suntans?
 
Certain individuals have a greater risk of damage from sun or UV light exposure, such as from tanning beds. According to the Food and Drug Administration, if you have light skin; red, blonde, or light brown hair; or green, blue, or gray eyes, you could be at increased risk of skin cancer and need to be particularly careful. If you are unusually susceptible to burning or have freckles on your skin, are outdoors a lot or have had prior instances of skin cancer, you may be in a higher risk group.
 
If any member of your family has had skin cancer, particularly melanoma, you are at increased risk. Those who work inside but try to get their suntan on weekends, or are using medications such as antihistamines, acne medicines, or tranquilizers are at increased risk.
 
What Can You Do to Protect Yourself?
 
The best way is to avoid excessive exposure to UV radiation. If you want a tanned look safely, you should use self-tanning products such as a tan towel or another self-tanner such as a spray tan.
 
There are many things you can do to protect yourself from the harmful ultraviolet rays. You should avoid direct sunlight from 10 am to 3 pm when solar radiation is strongest. Wear protective clothing such as a hat and sunglasses that filter out UV light. Always wear sunblock with an SPF of at least 30. Be sure it is waterproof. Did you know that most UV light passes through clouds? They block only 20% of ultraviolet rays. UV radiation can also penetrate water.  Sand, water and snow reflect UV rays, compounding the amount of solar radiation you receive.
 
Tanning Beds
 
Artificial suntans using tanning beds are also harmful. It was once commonly believed that tanning beds were safer than suntans because they use UVA radiation instead of UVB rays, which were considered the worst kind of UV rays. Scientists now report that the UVA radiation used in tanning beds is just as dangerous as natural sunlight. UVA radiation has been proven to cause melanoma.
 
Tan Sprays and Tan Towels
 
Bronzers and extenders such as tan sprays and tanning towels are safe and give you a temporary tan. They stain the skin and can be washed off with soap and water. The tan coloring, which will wear off after a few days, is harmless.  You will still need to avoid the sun and wear your sunblock, of course.

1. I received your product with the new orange and white packaging. Did the product change as well?
   Although Tan Towel changed the look of the packaging, the formula is exactly the same. The silver-packaged product you used in the past is exactly the same product as the one contained in the new orange and white packaging. You should achieve the exact same results because only the wrapping changed!
    
2. Should I moisturize before or after using TanTowel?
   TanTowel needs to be applied to CLEAN and DRY skin (meaning free of lotions, creams, and oils).
    
3. How long do the tanning products take to dry (so I can dress)?
   The TanTowel dries within seconds of application since it has the consistency of water. You can get dressed right away because there is no stain or dyes, and it will not come off on your clothing.
    
4. Is there a TanTowel that can be used on the face?
   Tantowel was created for both the face and body.
    
5. When using Tan Towels, should you wash your hands periodically to prevent staining?
   Yes or If your hands are dry you can apply lotion to your hands before you start your application this will slow down the absorbing process, and wash your hands after application. We recommend having a moist hand towel; then when you are done applying your TanTowel, you can rub your palms and fingers on the moist hand towel.
    
6. How long do the sealed tanning products last?
   Tantowels will last until they are opened or punctured. We recommend that they be used within 24 months, but they have lasted longer.
    
7. Is there a shelf-life on the tanning products?
   Each Tan Towel is triple heat sealed to maintain the freshness and quality of the product. They are like canned goods, as long as they are not punctured and have been kept in a cool, dry environment (i.e. closet, bathroom cabinet, etc.) they are still good. We recommend that they be used within 24 months.
    
8. Are they hypoallergenic?
   TanTowels have been doctor-tested and dermatologically approved.
    
9. How much of each product does it take to do an entire body application?
   TanTowel Half Body will cover approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the body, depending on your size, height and skin porosity. TanTowel Full Body will complete a full body (head to toe) application on an average-sized person.
    
10. Will they make age spots darker?
    Because Tan Towels work with the protein and amino acids in the skin, individual results may vary.
