We all experience times of stress and frustration. Sometimes our stress is caused by trouble with friends or relatives, a problem at work, or worries about money. It doesn’t make you feel less stressed to read one more headline about how bad stress is for you. It can age you more quickly, cause you to lose sleep and look tired, and even trigger a heart attack.
So what can you do about it? Well, it turns out that you can do more than you would think. First, make some simple changes. Whether or not you are a morning person, get up an extra 15 minutes early and go outside and observe the sun coming up or listen to the birds singing. That’s all, just for a few moments stand there on your patio, front porch or balcony and breathe deeply. Believe it or not there is benefit to that in helping to reset your sleep cycle.
If you are working long hours, take an occasional five minute break and focus your eyes out a window or on a farther away visual point. Take a deep breath or two and then go back to work. This can help your mind stay out of a total rut.
If you can get some time for yourself, take ten minutes and close your eyes while you recline on your bed, a couch, in a chair. Listen to a meditation talk from YouTube or Audible and just practice breathing slowly. If you feel guilty taking ten minutes for yourself, add a layer of productivity by applying Nocturne Night Repair Cream to your face and telling anyone who asks that you are taking some “wellness time.”
Last, think about choices that might improve your outlook. Even if you are going through a rough time you might find yourself laughing at a funny movie or Ted Talk or YouTube video and every minute of laughter is a minute during which you are not anxious!
