Peptides – Big Word, Simply Effective

If you are like me you start to fall asleep when people begin talking about peptides, amino acid and protein chains, and the function of the human skin. The skin is the largest organ in our bodies and it is basically a huge layer of connective tissue that exists to protect us from the elements and our environment. Peptides are a part of the process by which the skin maintains and renews itself. The skin needs to hold water in its cells in order to not lie loose and flat. As skin cells slough off and are replace it is the building blocks of cells, the peptides that help tell the cell what to do next and help rebuild the collagen which is the connective tissue that keeps the cells together.

A peptide-based cream like Peptide 6® is changes the chemistry of facial creams and anti-aging preparations because it mimics your skin’s own natural way of nourishing and rebuilding itself. Instead of some waxy cream meant to keep your skin protected from outside damage, Peptide 6® uses the power of natural body proteins to penetrate the top layer of skin and begin to promote healing and renewal from the inside out. The hyaluronic acid in the formula restores moisture to thirsty skin cells and plumps and smooths dry skin so that your skin looks and feels better naturally.

So don’t use extreme methods to restore youth. Trust the skin cream that helps your skin do what it does best naturally and restore your facial skin to the looks you had when you were younger.

For best results, use Peptide 6® twice a day on fresh clean skin before you apply anything else. It will help your makeup go on more smoothly and will work throughout the day or night to minimize wrinkles, reduce fine lines, and moisturize your skin thoroughly! Try the power of peptides and hyaluronic acid today!

What Products Should I Use?

Women sometimes tell me that they are baffled when they are in a department store and they see literally hundreds of moisturizers, wrinkle creams, anti-aging lotions and serums and face cremes. Even our website lists five separate products under moisturizers. Why so many?

Well, when it comes to skin care, one size does not fit all. The cream you use on your neck may irritate your sensitive eyes. A specially formulated night repair cream may be too heavy to wear under makeup as your daily face cream.  Additionally, each person’s skin is different based on factors like age, ethnic background, environment, climate, and lifestyle choices. So how do you pick what you need to use?

Some of it is based on that very word “need.” What do you need? If you notice that your eyes often have dark circles under them, then an under-eye cream is an easy choice. If you are concerned about the skin on your neck, there are special formulations created just for your neck.

Finally, there is also a chart we have made up that is based on several factors. The first is whether your skin is oily, dry or a combination of the two. That factor alone is one that must be taken into consideration so that an appropriate face cream can be formulated to work with your skin. The next factor is the condition of your skin. Many people who live in warmer climates have a lot of sun damage. Other women are dealing with skin conditions such as rosacea that have to be taken into consideration. Finally, it happens in puberty but also during menopause women experience the blemishes and breakouts of acne. In order to help you decide what products to use, we must take all those factors and mix ingredients that can be most effective with your particular skin.

So take a look at our Skin Care Regimen Page. It makes suggestions based on what you know about your skin so that you don’t have to wonder which moisturizer or cleanser would be the best one for you. We take the guess work out and put the anti-aging ingredients in!

New Year, New You!

Are you ready to face the end of 2013? The ball drops in only four more days and those short days are the time we have to rethink how we have lived this year. How many simple regrets do you have? Are you sorry about money you spent? Sorry about things you shouldn’t have said? Or, are your regrets more along the lines of things you should have done. Perhaps you are thinking you should have exercised more or stuck to your diet, or volunteered at a local community art initiative. It doesn’t matter. Now we have a chance to start over and do 2014 right.

My first suggestion is taking better care of yourself. Nutrition is a key issue, as is getting off the couch and moving – exercise doesn’t have to be at a gym or doing 100 reps of anything. You just have to get moving.

If you are not sure what you should be doing for your face, try this. Our recommended beauty regimen. Look it over and see how close it is to what you are actually doing. The closer you are the better your skin will look and feel. And that’s important. It isn’t just about looks. It’s about getting hydration deep into the pores of your skin, encouraging the renewal of collagen, sloughing off dead skin and creating smooth new layers that have less uneven coloration, less lines and wrinkles, less rough patches. In other words, healthier skin all around. If you need more specific advice we have sections for oily skin, dry skin, and sensitive skin as well.

Make a resolution on December 31st that for 2014 you will treat your skin the best you can and see if by the end of January you don’t have skin that is just amazing! Make time for YOU in 2014 and don’t let anyone hold you back!

Merry Christmas – Take a Deep Breath!

Wow, the holiday shopping is finally over and most of the family together time has passed. You may still have a few lingering houseguests or need to travel home yourself, but for the most part the big event is over and done with. And as much as you love everyone, there is a good chance you’re feeling exhausted. Sometimes the only thing you need is a soak in a bath tub or a massage.

mango-body-creamWhile you are at it, we recommend using a luxuriating body butter after the bath, shower or massage to pamper your skin from head to toe. You don’t have to spend hours wrapped in seaweed if you don’t have the time, but at least take long enough to rub in some shea butter-enhanced body lotion to give your skin that all-over “ahhhhhh” feeling. The other reason I hope you will do it is that this has been a very cold winter (except in Florida) and many women are suffering from the drying effects of indoor heat. A good all-over moisturizing treatment will restore elasticity to skin and sink in for long-term therapeutic effects.

Our Mango Souffle Body Cream with shea butter contains mango and shea butters, emollient oils, hyaluronic acid for deep down hydration, and aloe vera for extra smoothness. To take it over the top we have added the anti-oxidant power of Vitamin E  to really soothe and smooth your skin. What haven’t we added: well, we have absolutely no sulfates, no parabens, no SLS, no formaldehyde, no alcohol and it is even gluten-free! Not convinced, how about our cruelty-free promise that this was not tested on animals and our money-back guarantee? This yummy body cream promotes healing and pampers your senses thoroughly so that you feel refreshed and renewed personally.

Try our Mango Souffle all-over body moisturizer. What a wonderful gift to give yourself this holiday season!

Why We Don’t Provide Samples

Women are used to receiving samples in almost every conceivable area of life. Want to try a new perfume? Stop by the fragrance counter and get some little tester vials. Want to try a new shade of makeup? Your brand probably has small sample sizes so you can try it on and see if it covers like they say it does.

samplesAnd, like most manufacturers, we get asked from time to time if we provide samples. But skin care is not like makeup. Skin does not age over night and aging cannot be counter-acted in one application of a product. When peptides penetrate the layers of a skin cell, they help your skin renew the way it did automatically when you were in your twenties. They stimulate the production of collagen which is the connective tissue that keeps skin looking smooth and prevents sagging. These are changes that are occurring on a cellular level and on a day to day basis. Slowly, lines and webbing in your skin begin to fill in and smooth out. Daily, the applications of peptides and hyaluronic acid tell your skin to produce collagen and retain moisture which keeps new wrinkles from forming and reduces the severity of deeper lines.

As you continue to treat your skin with high grade skin care therapies you will see your skin looking fresher, looking younger, with more even color and less sagging and drooping. Soon, you look at a picture of yourself from just six months ago and you are startled at the difference. Friends are commenting on how lovely you look and hinting that you “had something done.” You can’t achieve that overnight by putting a little dab of a sample product along your chin line. It is a commitment to enhancing your natural defenses against aging that begins to make a difference.

So how can you try our products without a risk of wasting your money? That’s where our 90-day satisfaction guarantee comes in. Yes, you heard right, 90 days. We have one of the longest “try it” guarantees in the industry. We know the changes don’t occur over night so we want you to be sure you are satisfied. We even have a specialist ready to help you if you think you might not be using it right or don’t feel you’re getting the full benefit. We’ll discuss your application methods, frequency and timing and see if you need a personalized plan that would be more effective.

Why do we go to all that trouble? Because you are worth it. We want our customers to be the most loyal and happy customers in the world. So we have created products that work, stellar customer service, fast as lightning shipping, and a great guarantee. Are we forgetting anything? Look over our website and our products and see!

What Products Help a Face With Oily Skin Fight Wrinkles?

So often, women with oily skin avoid skin care creams and makeup altogether. They fear that anything they put on their face will only make the oiliness worse and the face appear greasy. Nothing could be further from the truth. First, there are specific cleansers meant just for an oily face. These are so very important.

With oily skin it is very easy for the skin to appear greasy and visibly oily. When excess oil is present the pores get clogged and filled with oils which then promotes blackheads and pimples making the skin even harder to keep clean looking. Don’t despair if this is your situation, get busy cleaning the skin with a gentle but effective cleanser to stop blemishes and restore a more natural condition to your skin. It is very important to choose a non-irritating cleanser because you will want to use it just before bedtime, and again in the morning.

Next, choose a non-greasy retinol-based anti-wrinkle face cream. This will fight aging with the best ingredients and won’t leave your skin greasy or oily looking. A retinol-based wrinkle cream will stimulate collagen production and renew and nourish skin cells keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay daily.

Next, don’t forget a full-spectrum sun block. Many women with oily skin also have a darker complexion which tans easily. Unfortunately, even if your skin is not getting a visible sunburn, damage is being done by the UV rays to your skin cells. You may think you look marvelous with that dark tan, but you will age more quickly because of tanning than your friends who protected their skin with clothing or sun screen. Dry skin or oily skin, the sun is not your friend.

Finally, use additional products on trouble spots as needed such a Necquelle for a smoother neck or Refresh Me under eye cream to banish the dark circles and tired look.

Creating an At-Home Spa Day

What is the biggest thing stopping today’s woman from spending the day at a spa? If you said, “price,” you are way off base. Spas can indeed be expensive but for most women the problem is getting enough time. Time tends to be devoted to business or family or creative projects and pretty soon a woman has reached the end of her day and there’s enough time for a bath or a cup of tea. Tell her she needs to carve out 8 hours of time for massage, facial, manicure, steam room, lunch and drive time, and she will probably say something like, “Oh, I wish!”

Nevertheless, we do need to take a step back from time to time and give ourselves some wellness time. If you recognize yourself in the description of the busy woman, how about this? Set aside some basic supplies for an at home spa treatment. Maybe a special fluffy towel and robe, your favorite soft jazz CD, and some Mango Souffle Body Cream with shea butter. Then, either plan to spend an hour enjoying your spa-time, or let it happen spontaneously. Finish up a project and before you get dragged into the next one, go to the linen closet, take out your spa supplies and pour yourself a relaxing bath or maybe jump into a brisk shower. When you come out towel yourself off lightly and then pamper your skin with the Mango Souffle Body Cream. Let the shea butter, aloe vera and rich, hydrating hyaluronic acid soak into your skin erasing any dryness. If you have rough elbows, heels or knees, rub a little extra into those “trouble spots” and let it sink in.

Now that you are fresh and clean and your body is luxuriating in the Mango Souffle Body Cream, put on your relaxation CD and climb onto a chaise or into a recliner and close your eyes. You don’t have to stay like that for hours. You can decide for yourself how much time or how little you have. But be sure to give yourself a minimum of 15 minutes to a half-hour to just breathe. You’ll love your at-home spa time and it will do you a world of good.

The Super Bowl Battle

This is Super Bowl Sunday and many people all over America believe that the big battle is going to be carried out on the football field under the watchful eye of the television cameras.  Well, that will certainly be one battle going on today but it doesn’t begin to compare to the day to day battle against the signs of aging:  wrinkles!

Every day this battle rages on and the teams are pretty powerful.  On the side of aging we have:

  • Age
  • Air pollution
  • Smoking
  • Sun exposure
  • Poor nutrition
  • Bad skincare and makeup products that can actually age you faster.

On the side of beauty we have:

  • Pure Water
  • Delicious fruits and vegetables
  • Sunscreen and sunblock
  • Moisturizers and Anti-wrinkle creams that include hyaluronic acid, retinol, squalane, aloe vera, peptides but NEVER parabens, phthalates or artificial fragrances.

Vegetables and fruits are great for skinSince today IS Super Bowl Sunday let’s start with good nutrition.  Please, step away from the chips and dip. Avoid fried chicken, hot dogs and carbohydrates like cupcakes and those football shaped cakes.  If you are the hostess create some beautiful vegetable trays with fresh fruit and veges that have the vitamins your skin needs and your taste buds love. Your guests will love them too! Next, make sure you have plenty of pure water on hand.  Nothing quenches thirst better and hydrates you from the inside out better than clear, pure, water.  Your skin will love you for it!

Now lets talk about moisturizing.  Really, all you have to do to moisturize is use a simple lotion or cream that seals moisture in after your shower or bath.  But that is not the same as fighting the battle to banish wrinkles.  Today’s woman has a serious arsenal of weapons to choose from and they are not dangerous chemicals.  They are ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, vitamins, and squalane that are a part of your skin’s natural renewal process.  Now you are doing far more than just sealing in the moisture from a shower.  Now you are aiding your skin’s natural renewing process and helping rebuild collagen and hydrate depleted cells!  The only other thing you should do is make sure and wear a good sunblock or sunscreen daily.  Ready to start fighting wrinkles:  Here are some of our best anti-aging moisturizers!

A Clean Face is Clearly Better

Throughout the ages women have struggled to keep things clean, especially their face and hands. In the middle ages, court dress was so cumbersome your face and hands were almost the only visible parts of your body. The concoctions women put on their faces in those more primitive times would shock us now. We have modern sensibilities of cleanliness and the importance it holds in our lives.

Some of the benefits of a truly clean face are very obvious: old makeup is stripped away, dirt is removed, the skin is stimulated and reinvigorated. Dead skin cells are removed with an exfoliating gel or a scrub and the face just glows. But that is not all it does. A good paraben-free facial scrub prepares the skin for the most effective use of your moisturizer or wrinkle cream. Dead skin cells on an unprepared face are dry and thirsty, ready to soak up all the beneficial moisture you so carefully stroke into your skin. But the ingredients in that moisturizer cannot benefit the dead skin. There is no way for collagen in dead cells to regenerate or the skin to renew itself the way living skin cells do. So when you use a good facial cleanser like our Oh Honey!™ Amber Face Scrub you get the dead skin cells out of the way and open the pores of the healthy skin.  Then your face gets the benefit of your moisturizer or wrinkle cream and you see more dramatic results.

How do you know Oh Honey!™ is the right scrub for you to use? This revolutionary scrub uses exfoliating amber crystals coupled with the natural goodness of real honey to gently remove old skin cells and smooth and soften your skin. Formulated to be safe enough for delicate and mature skin, you can use it with confidence knowing that it is paraben-free, animal cruelty-free, and made by Mango Madness Skincare with our famous Money-Back Guarantee. Free Shipping means you’ll receive your Oh Honey!™ Amber and honey facial scrub quickly and securely.  Shop today for a more beautiful tomorrow! The Dry Skin Dilemma

Dry Skin is a problem that affects approximately 40% of our female population and is caused by many diverse factors.  Surprisingly, a significant number of women are slightly dehydrated on a regular basis.  For these women, simply increasing water intake might alleviate symptoms of dry skin.  Others may have dry skin as a consequence of Diabetes, over-exposure to sunlight, smoking, or simple aging.

No matter what the cause is, the results of dry skin are frustrating and not attractive.  Skin cells collapse as moisture is depleted.  Small lines and webbing appears on faces and hands.  Lines at the corners of the mouth and eyes form and begin to crease more deeply.  Skin may appear dry, flakey, and slightly scaly instead of smooth and silky.

If you notice signs of dry skin on your face or hands, consider these solutions.

  • Make sure you are getting plenty of water to drink.
  • Avoid exposure to harsh sunlight
  • Reduce or quit smoking
  • Eat foods rich in Vitamin E including almonds, wheat germ, safflower oil, peanuts and hazelnuts
  • Moisturize with a product high in hyaluronic acid and peptides

Why hyaluronic acid and peptides?  Hyaluronic acid penetrates your skin and works directly on the layers below the surface.  On the skin above hyaluronic acid moisturizes and reduces fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing away dry, rough spots.  Below, HA hydrates and stimulates skin repair by facilitating the production of collagen.  The result is that skin cells are plumper, moister, less dry and depleted.  Your skin looks smooth and silky, rich and radiant.

Peptides are also extremely valuable in your defensive arsenal against dry, aged skin.  Peptides enhance and promote collagen production and increase elasticity in skin making it more supple and young-looking.

If dry skin is your problem, consider the lifestyle changes above and daily cleanse with a gentle, paraben-free cleanser and then moisturize with a hydrating cream rich in Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid such as Peptide 6™ from Mango Madness Skin Care.
